GIG
“For my Winter 2014 collection of GIG, I wanted to return to where it all began and focus on the origins of the brands. The GIG story started in the 80s, when I was just a teenager and developing my love for design and taking those first, but very important, steps into fashion.”
GIG was founded by Gina Guerra and Patricia Schettino in 2002 as a B2B design business for big brands, however it wasn’t until 2005 that Gina and Patricia started developing their own collections. Specialising in knitwear, GIG highlights the strength and beauty of fabric, through twisted shapes, textures and unique prints. By way of accurate modelling and high tech machinery, GIG tailor-makes their tricot. GIG has an especially established position in the Brazilian market, thanks to an exclusive agreement with 32 Intermix stores across North America. The brand’s international presence has included events such as ‘Who is Next’ in Dubai, ‘Brazil Fashion Now’ in Tokyo, and Sao Paulo Fashion Week. GIG’s co-founder Gina Guerra collaborated with the American fashion designer Ashley Paige, who invited her to develop a joint collection, showcasing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
